About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and detail-driven Bodyshop Estimator to join a professional and fast-paced Bodyshop. You will be responsible for producing accurate estimates, ensuring excellent customer communication, and supporting the Bodyshop in achieving high standards of efficiency, quality, and profitability.
This role is ideal for someone with strong technical knowledge, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to assess repair methods accurately using modern estimating systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Accurate Estimating
- Prepare detailed and accurate estimates for insurer and private customers using approved systems.
- Assess the most cost-effective and profitable repair method for each job.
- Use Thatcham escribe and manufacturer repair methodology to determine repair methods.
- Distribute repair methods and job cards to technicians in line with PAS 125.
- Review and adjust estimates after vehicle strip-down to ensure accuracy and profitability.
- Ensure written authority is received before commencing work and update management systems accordingly.
Customer Communication & Service
• Explain the repair process, work required, possible private repairs, and estimated completion date to customers.
• Maintain a presence at reception, assisting customers in person and on the phone.
• Keep all customer-facing areas tidy and professional.
• Answer customer questions clearly and without unnecessary technical jargon.
• Handle dissatisfied customers calmly and escalate complaints to the Bodyshop Manager when appropriate.
• Ensure account customers have sufficient credit to approve repairs.
Promoting Bodyshop Services
• Ensure customers are aware of all Bodyshop and retailer services available.
• Assist and approach customers proactively regarding additional services.
Administration & Process Efficiency
• Initiate job documentation and maintain accurate customer records.
• Maintain effective communication with parts, workshop, and reception teams.
• Follow correct procedures when issuing loan cars, including completing paperwork and obtaining driving licence copies where required.
• Maintain and update all departmental systems accurately.
• Comply with all Health & Safety, environmental, and company policies.
• Support the Bodyshop Manager with additional tasks as required.
What We’re Looking For
• Experience as a Bodyshop Estimator or similar automotive estimating role.
• Strong understanding of repair methods, estimating systems, and insurance processes.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• High level of accuracy, organisation, and detail-orientation.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a professional manner.
